A visitation followed by funeral services for Charles Edward Vainer Jr, 88, of Thomasville will be held at Allen and Allen Chapel beginning at 2:00 PM on Saturday March 28, 2015. The Reverend Ronnie Wills will officiate. Charles was born December 20, 1926 in Cleveland Ohio to the late Charles Edward Vainer, Sr. and Johanna Rezac Vainer. After graduating high school in Cleveland, Charles served as a high speed radio operator in the US Army while stationed in Okinawa, Japan. After being discharged he received his degree from Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio where he was a brother of Delta Tau Delta. He spent his working years in the retail business in Cincinnati and later Tampa as a buyer and sales person, and retired from Federated Stores. Upon retirement he and his wife moved to Thomasville to be near his daughter and her family. Charles became active in the community as a volunteer at the Thomas County Public Library, as a reader in Mrs. Boo Ivey’s kindergarten class at Scott Elementary School, and as a member of the church choir. Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Wilma; daughter Mary and husband Larry; grandsons Matthew and his wife Mandy, Jon and his wife Ginger, and Luke. He was preceded in death by his son Charles Edward Vainer, III; and his brother James Vainer. Charles was an avid reader; therefore, the family is asking in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Thomas County Public Library.
