Funeral services for Charlie Thomas Phillips will be Tuesday, March 7 at 11:00 AM at the Temple Baptist Church in Colquitt Co. Rev. Terry Webb will officiate and internment will be in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Scott Garren, Patrick Allen, John Phillips, Charles Larry Phillips, Jr., Tony Wilson and Randall Thomas R.T. Collier. Honorary pallbearers are John L. Hamilton and George Collier, III. Mr. Phillips died on March 5, 2006. The son of the late John Thomas and Georgia Daughtry Phillips, Mr. Phillips was born on October 28, 1917 in Thomas County. On November 21, 1941, he married Pauline Jordan Phillips, who survives. Mr. Phillips was a retired farmer and also worked for Dawes Mining Co and Sunnyland. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a past member of the American Legion Post 122. Other survivors include sons and daughters in law, Charles Larry and Hazel Phillips of Baconton, GA, and Johnny Lee and Lucy Phillips of Moultrie, GA.; a daughter, Brenda Gail Garren of Coolidge and daughters and sons in law Geraldine Deanie and Danny Wilson of Coolidge and Deborah Jewell and George Collier of Metcalfe, GA. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Two sons, Gerald and Jerry Phillips, preceded him in death.
