Funeral services for Christine Barwick Crittenden, 88 of Thomasville will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at First United Methodist Church Chapel. Rev. Ronnie Wills and Rev. Bob Dixon will officiate. Mrs. Crittenden passed away peacefully on September 25, 2014 at Glenn-Mor Nursing Home. Born in Thomasville, GA on July 29, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Hubert Houston Barwick and Annie Bell Barwick. She graduated from Thomasville High School in 1944. She was a devoted wife for 59 years of F. Alex Crittenden, Jr. of Thomasville, whom she married on March 26, 1950 and who preceded her in death on November 29, 2009. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and was a charter member of the Lawson Neel Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Thomasville Junior Woman’s Club and Woman’s Club, where she held many offices and the Georgia Federation of Woman’s Clubs. She touched many lives and was an admired Girl Scout leader for each of her three daughters and Cub Scout leader for her son. She served as a “pink lady” at Archbold Memorial Hospital and was a corporate member for life of the Archbold Medical Center. She served as treasurer of the Thomasville Music and Drama Troupe. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Chris was a member of Glen Arven Country Club for Sixty years and served on the board of directors and was a member of the Glen Arven Ladies Golf Association and past president.
She was a loving mother and is survived by children Laura Hathaway (Ray) of Greenville, SC, Janet Ingle (Rusty) of Brentwood, TN, Mark Crittenden (Jeanie) of Boston, Becky Chaney (Steve) of Madison, FL; a sister-in-law Lois C. Barwick of Boston, grandchildren Derek Lawhorn (Teresa), Lyndi Hathaway, Jeremy Hathaway (Jennifer), Allison Ingle, Alex Ingle, Heath Carnline (Janelle), Jerrod Shealey, Jason Chaney; great grandchildren Andrew, Aaron, and Adam Lawhorn, Hayze and Lorelei Richardson, Mary Grace and Charlie Hathaway, Jodi and Josh DiGiammarino, Blake Carnline, Clayton and Addison Chaney; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings Lucille McCann, Hubert H. Barwick, Jr. and William L. Barwick. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First United Methodist Church P.O.
