Graveside services for Claude E. McLendon, Jr., 86, of Thomasville are at 2:00p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, at Laurel Hill Cemetery on Mississippi St. The Rev. Dr. Milton C. Gardner will officiate. Mr. McLendon died Feb. 4 at Camelia Gardens. Born Oct. 28, 1920, in Funston, Ga., he was the son of the late Claude and Lillian Manning McLendon. He was a district manager for Colonial Stores and retired after 39 years. He owned and operated the IGA store for 5 years. On May 14, 1982 he married Janet Horne Lanier McLendon, who survives. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge, Fisherman?s S.S. class, and the Golden K. He was a graduate of Moultrie High School. Other survivors include, son and daughter-in-law, Edwin C. and Amy McLendon, Thomasville; step-daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca Lanier and Jack Allen and Lois Lanier and Roswell Mason, all of Thomasville; grandchildren, Kim and Paul Marshall, Cairo, Lanier and Chad Allen, Littleton, Ga., Irene and John Gleason, Tallahassee, Sidney and Stephen Kreyenbuhl, Seattle, WA., Hillery Allen, Thomasville, Adrian Welch, London, England, Rebecca Lynn and Michael Vendryes, Atlanta, Cooper Welch, Athens, Ga., Elizabeth Mason, Fredericksburg, VA., Fort Mason, Athens, Ga. and Lolo Mason, Thomasville; great-grandchildren, Victoria Marshall, Noah Adkison, Serena Grace Allen, Christopher Patrick Vendryes, and Emily Elizabeth Vendryes; sisters, Carolyn Knight, Moultrie, and Lillian Gibbs, Ty Ty, Ga. He was preceded in death by wife, Inez Weeks McLendon; brothers, Marion McLendon, and Warner McLendon; sister, Elizabeth Cagle, and grandchild, Angie Adkison.
