Claude Joel Hanan, age 70, passed away at his home in Hayesville, NC on January 23, 2024 after a long hard battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude J. and Nellie D. Hanan, and is survived by his wife of 44 years, Martha Carnahan Hanan.
Known by everyone as Joey, he grew up in Thomasville, Georgia and relocated to Cumming, GA due to his work. Joey had a long sales career representing products to stores throughout the southeast. After retirement, Joey worked part time at the Mountain Harbor Golf Club. He developed friendships all along the way. Joey, who never knew a stranger, maintained strong friendships throughout his life, but none was stronger than his special connection with his wife Martha. They shared a lot of the same interests and passions like fishing, hiking and golf. When not doing those things, he was grilling on the deck, or, of course, watching football (Go Dawgs!).
Joey was a big guy at one time and had a big personality and a big heart. He will be missed by many. Martha would like to thank everyone for their support these last few years.
A Service is planned for Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 4 pm at Allen & Allen Funeral Home, Thomasville, GA. Joey will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Thomasville, GA.
