Claxton E. Hurst

Funeral services for Claxton E. Hurst will be held Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 3:00 PM at New Bethel Church with Pastor Victor Hurst and Pastor Terry Hurst officiating. Visitation will be held at New Bethel Baptist Church in Meigs, GA from 2:00-3:00 PM on July 21, 2021. Born June 10, 1938, he was the son of the late R. C. Hurst and Myrtice Alligood Hurst. Claxton was married to Michelin Hurst, for 30 years. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, the Thomasville Masonic Lodge #369, and the Thomasville American Legion. He also served the citizens of Thomasville with the Thomasville Police Department as well as served with the U.S. Army. He is survived by his children Claxton Craig Hurst (Lee) of Ochlocknee, GA, Victor Hurst (Lisa) of Conyers, GA, Brett Hurst (Mary Ann) of Gainesville, GA, Terry Hurst (Holly) of Boston, GA, Karren Green (Travis) of Climax, GA, Michael King (Leslie) of Monroe, OH, and Stephen King (Shelley) of Wyomissing, PA. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Fred Hurst, Rudolph Hurst (Buddy), Hershel Hurst, and Bill Carlese Hurst.
