Clifford G. Thornton

Services for Clifford G. Thornton, 79, of Thomasville are at 2:00PM on Thursday, July 15, 2004 at Allen & Allen Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Lee Waller and the Rev. Billy Majors will officiate and interment is in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are grandsons and grandsons-in-law Bryan, Cory, Lee, Erik, Alan and Ryan. Honorary Pallbearers are Sonny Thompson, Rodney Collins, John Faircloth, Charles Thornhill, Lee Godwin and Ken Lanter. Mr. Thornton died July 12, 2004 after a bout with cancer. Clifford worked for 35 years for Colonial Stores, starting off as a truck driver and worked his way up the ladder to Head Buyer for the Southeast region. He was a life member of the American Legion and enjoyed fishing and growing roses. Clifford was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Annie Fay Peak Thornton; his son, Tommy, his parents, Will and Julia Thornton and his brother Malcom. He is survived by two daughters, Peggy Buddy Wood of Dothan, Ala. and Patsy Bill Epperson of Cairo; grandchildren, Becky Lee Watford of Dothan, Ala.; Wendy Erik Hosied of Dothan, Ala.; Alan Wood of Dothan, Ala.; Bryan Tina Croft of Acworth, GA.; Cory Cari Croft of Gay, GA.; Amanda Ryan Siddell of Thomasville; 12 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; brothers and sisters, Billy Ethel Thornton of Coffee Springs, Ala.; Kenneth Loretta Thornton of Enterprise, Ala.; Rue Eleanor Lee Nelms Dickerson of Eatonton, GA.; Roger Thornton, Plano, Texas and Elizabeth Gerald Dunn of Rensselaer, NY and by numerous nieces and nephews. The family request in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, Inc, P.O. Box 1201, Albany, GA 31702.
