Services for Clyde Albert Griffin, Jr. of Thomasville are at 2:00PM on Sunday, October 26, 2003 at First Baptist Church Chapel. Rev. Dr. Milton C. Gardener will officiate and interment is in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Griffin died October 24, 2003 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born May 11, 1921 in Albany, GA., he was the son of the late Clyde Albert Griffin, Sr. and Aubrey Campbell Griffin. He was married to Jewel Sherrod Griffin who survives. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a 33rd degree Mason and a former County Commissioner. He was a 4 year letterman and Captain of the 1941 Thomasville High School Bulldogs Football team. He was a retired Captain of the United States Army Reserves and also a retired toll test man at Bellsouth. Other survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Charlton and Mary Alston Anderson Griffin of Altanta, GA.; son, Kelly Clyde Griffin of Thomasville; brothers, Donald Griffin of Thomasville, Billy Griffin of Fla.; sisters, Mabel Taylor and Sara Davies of Fla. He was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Douglas and brothers, Johnny Griffin and Harold Griffin. Memorials may be made to the Benevolence Fund, First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 2790, Thomasville, GA 31799. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8PM on Saturday. Visitors may sign the online guest register at www.allenfh.com .
