Clyde Fussell

Funeral services for Clyde Fussell, 89, of Thomasville will be held at 10:00AM on July 10, 2013 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 729 Edgewood Ave., South, Jacksonville, Florida. Interment will be at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery in Orange Park, Florida. He died at his residence at Camellia Gardens in Thomasville, GA on July 6, 2013. Born September 17, 1923, in Douglas, GA, he was the son of the late Henry and Laura Fussell. Clyde spent four years overseas as a soldier in the United States Army serving his country during World War II. Upon his return from Germany he married Evelyn Sullivan of Tifton, GA. They moved to Jacksonville, FL in 1952 where they became long-time residents. He was the proud father of four children. He retired after more than 30 years service as a sheet metal mechanic. After Evelyn's death in February 1985 he later remarried Vivian Sweat of Jacksonville, FL. He enjoyed his work, his family time and his membership in his church. In February of 2004, Clyde moved from Jacksonville, to take up permanent residence in Thomasville, Ga to be near his daughter and son-in-law. As an avid fisherman and active member of the Thomasville New Covenant Church, he quickly became part of the community. He will be long remembered by his many friends for his humor and friendly and funny personality. Clyde is survived by three of his children, his daughters Clydine Yarbrough of Cape Coral, FL, Sandra K. Dixon of Thomasville, GA, and his son Kenneth C. Fussell of N.C.; his seven grandchildren, Michelle, Chad, Clint, Brad, K.C., Chris and Gary; his five great grandchildren, Dylan, Taylor, Jayden, Kailyn and Leah. He is also survived by one of his five brothers, Junior and two of his sisters, Margarite and Allowee. He was preceded in death by both of his wives, Evelyn Fussell and Vivian Fussell; his daughter Eleanor Wofford; and his father and mother, Henry and Laura Fussell.
