Clyde Lang Harden

October 6, 1920 — November 26, 2015

With his devoted wife of more than 68 years by his side, and at his home of nearly 50 years, Clyde Lang Harden slipped quietly and peacefully into the outstretched arms of a loving Heavenly Father on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2015. Clyde was born to Walter Lang Harden and Carrie Lou Newton Harden on October 6, 1920 in Elza, Georgia. Clyde served in the 244th Field Artillery Battalion in the United States Army during World War II, and participated in the invasion at Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He was discharged on November 29, 1945. On May 28, 1947, he married his eternal companion and the apple of his eye, Elizabeth Ball. They were blessed with three wonderful children, Libby, Walter and Kay, whom they raised on their farm in Boston, Georgia. He was a farmer through and through and wore his John Deere hats with pride. He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Clyde is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth Ball Harden, two daughters, Libby Peterson and Kay (Bill) Maycock, and is preceded in death by his son Walter Harden, and brother Edwin Harden. Clyde is survived by grandchildren Eliza (Jeff) Zollinger, Emily (Darren) Krieger, Walter (Rebekah) Maycock and Carrie (Chris) Hillier, by twelve great-grandchildren, by his brother Howard (Betty) Harden and sister Margaret Fox, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.The family will receive friends and family for visitation on Saturday, November 28, 2015, at 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 755 Remington Ave., Thomasville, Georgia. Funeral services will follow at the same location at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow the funeral service at Oak Hill Cemetery in Quitman, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Humanitarian Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
