Clydene Bennett

Kay Clydene Johnson Bennett, 84, was born in Austin, Texas on September 9th, 1936. She died on November 17th, 2020 in Thomasville, GA. She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde Thomas Johnson; her mother, Adeline Rosabelle Stromquist Johnson; her sister, Nancy Aline Johnson Hall; and her sister, Joyce Vernell Johnson Morris.

She is survived by her husband, Oscar Nelson Bennett; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and David Trice; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Bill Holmes; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Becky Brady; Son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Leslie Bennett; and stepson and step daughter-in-law, Butch and Denise Bennett. Surviving grandchildren are
Buck Bennett, Ben Bennett, Katybelle Bennett, Chelsea Elizabeth Williams, Jessica Lynn Purdy, Nancy Margaret Folker, Neil Bennett, Jessica Barnett, and Mary Jane Gillis; and great-granddaughter, Lucy Kay Folker.

Clydene was especially proud of her hometown, Austin, Texas and loved to regale stories of her childhood there. Much of her life was spent in Hurtsboro, Alabama where she commuted back and forth to her job at Fort Benning. In her off time, she enjoyed decorating and working on her home. She was an excellent seamstress and artist. In Thomasville, Georgia, where she was a longtime resident, she was known as the first person in the pick up line at the schools where her grandchildren attended.
Clydene instilled in her children the value of family, strength of character, and spiritual importance. Her fierceness and her resolve will be missed.
