Jeanette Townsend Connell, aged 83, passed away on September 9, 2024, in Tallahassee, Florida. Born Jeanette Townsend in Jacksonville, Florida, she carved a notable career in real estate, notably as the former owner and operator of North Florida Abstract and Title. Her career consisted of work at WWSD 1090am Radio in marketing and advertising, photography at RoMO photos in Tallahassee, mobile home sales, Photographer for Tallahassee Democrat, owner and operator of Homespun Shop a craft and fabric store, and began her own business doing abstract and title insurance and retired from real estate sales.
Jeanette's life was enriched by her passions for walking dirt roads, camping, fishing, dancing, and music, hobbies that brought joy not only to her but also to those who knew her. Additional hobbies included walking dirt roads looking for Indian artifacts, crafts, sewing, photography, cooking, camping, making music cd’s to share and being the supervisor of anything she was involved in. Her nickname was Boss Hog. In addition, she was a Civitan club member, Watermelon festival chairwoman of the Canoe Race and initiator of the juried craft vendors division, and apart of the Senior Citizens Council.
She leaves behind her husband of 58 years, Winston Connell; daughters, Lynette Connell Sirmon (John) and Julie Connell Smith (Chad); and son, Richard Connell. Jeanette was preceded in death by her father, James Albert Townsend; mother, Peggy O'Berry Townsend; a son, Leonard Nathaniel Norton; and a brother, James Townsend.
A memorial service will be held on October 12, 2024, at Ebenezer Baptist Cemetery, 446 Hatchett Road, Monticello, FL at 11 am. Jeanette's life and legacy will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
