Conrad Albert Engel died Friday, Dec, 2, 2016 at his home in Boston, GA. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM, Monday, Dec. 5 at Boston Cemetery conducted by Rev. Don West. Born September 7, 1943 in East Orange, NJ, he was the son of Albert Patrick Engel and Marie Rose Bates Engel, both of whom predeceased their son. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Linda K. Engel, Boston; two sons, Chris Engel and his companion, Sarah Selser, Anthony Engel and his wife Evie, a stepson Mark Humphrey and his wife Francie; seven grandchildren: Casey, Corey, Emily and Collin Engel, Kristin, Kelsey and Keaton Humphrey; one great grandchild, Haleigh – all of Tampa, FL. He is also survived by a sister Ernestine Seratilla in New Jersey and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was predeceased by the mother of his sons, Evelyn Engel. Mr. Engel’s career ranged from a commercial pilot flying supply missions in Cambodia during the Vietnam era to corporate business as a vice president at Maas Brothers department stores to produce farmer in Thomas County, GA. He founded, wrote and published The Boston (GA) Chronicle; he attracted a large following as a columnist for the Thomasville-Times Enterprise. His favorite career move, however, was when he and Linda brought the Boston Hardware store which they operated for ten years. Conrad was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a mentor to many. He was always keenly interested in local, state, national and international events. His hobbies included collecting stamps, coins, historical documents, trains and many other things of interest. Formerly a member of many professional organizations, he maintained his membership in the NRA and was previously a volunteer with the Boston Fire Department. He was a member and Elder of Boston Presbyterian Church.
