Services for Constance Thelma Flautt Turner, 89, of Thomasville are at 11:00 am, Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at the First Baptist Church of Thomasville with the Rev. Dr. Milton Gardner and the Rev. Dr. Dan Spencer officiating. Interment to follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery with Thomas Kevin Vick, J.T. Tripp Turner III, David M. Roach, Stephen E. Brett, Stephen E. Brett, Jr. and Glenn Beard serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Turner passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, November 18 at Southern Pines while surrounded by family. She was born July 3, 1917 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Porter Houston and Thelma Flautt. After completing high school in Baltimore, she graduated from the Maryland Institute of Art. Immediately following graduation she was employed by several Baltimore department stores as a woman?s clothing designer. During World War II, she worked at both the Tilter Center and the Red Cross. She also enjoyed a 32 year relationship with the Thomasville school system as a substitute teacher. Mrs. Turner was a long standing member of the First Baptist Church where she was a dedicated Sunday school teacher and a leader of the W.M.U. She also shared her time with the P.T.A. and the Girl Scouts of America.

Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James Thomas Turner and a brother Kermit Flautt. She is survived by two children, daughter Barbara Turner Vick and husband Doug M. Vick of Thomasville; and son, James Thomas Turner, Jr. and wife Shirley B. Turner of Savannah; five grandchildren, Thomas Kevin Vick and wife Sonia B. Vick of Thomasville, Amanda Vick Roach and husband, David M. Roach of Thomasville, Mischa N. Turner, E. Victoria Turner and James Thomas Turner III all of Savannah, Georgia; six great grandchildren, Tanner V. Roach, Parker W. Roach, Hayes B. Roach, Mollie C. Vick, Anna E. Vick, T. Turner Vick; three brothers, Houston H. Flautt and wife Mary of Thomasville, Warren E. Flautt and wife Barbara of Virginia Beach and Bruce B. Flautt of Baltimore, Maryland; brother in-law Grover Newton and wife Margaret of Thomasville; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Thomasville, Georgia, 210 N. Broad St., Thomasville, GA 31792, designated to the Twin Oaks Ministry.
