Cora Lee Hester

.Graveside service for Cora Lee Hester, 93 of Cairo will be held at 10 am, Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Dewayne Atkinson officiating. Mrs. Hester entered into eternal rest September 9, 2024 at Capital Regional Hospital. Born December 4, 1930 in Brinson, Ga to the late Frances Lee and Bertha Harvell (Singletary), Cora weighed only 3 pounds at birth and wasn’t expected to live but God had an awesome plan for her. Cora loved Jesus with all her heart and her second love was Wayne B. Hester. They married on December 23, 1949 and raised two sons, Rayford Hester of Cairo and the late Luke Hester of Thomasville. Cora loved being “Nanny” and through the years she cared for and helped raise dozens of children in the family. Cora touched so many lives with her sweet spirit, prayers and the love of God. She enjoyed cooking for her family, attending church, visiting friends and family, and praising the Lord. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. Her presence will be greatly missed here, but one day we will meet again in Heaven to live forever more.

Survivors include her son Rayford Hester, grandsons: Tony Hester (Tobi) of Lee, FL, Rodney Hester (Kim) of Cairo Ga, Michael Hester of Cairo GA, Patrick Hester of Cairo, Ga, Granddaughter Samantha Parker of Cairo GA and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and much more extended family.

Cora was preceded in death by loving husband Wayne Hester, son Luke Hester, two brothers, two sisters, and grandson Edward Hester.
