Graveside services for Curtis W. Murphy, 94, of Thomasville will be 10:00 am, Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Pavo Lebanon Cemetery. The Rev. Tegler Greer will officiate. Mr. Murphy passed away July 17, 2009 at Glenmor Nursing Home. Born May 15, 1915 in Murphy, Ga, he was the son of the late Lemuel W. Murphy and Esmer V. Black Murphy. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Bonnie Louise Shelley Murphy and son Charles L. Carithers. From 1937 to 1951, Mr. Murphy served 10 years in the U.S. Army, and was a veteran of W.W. II and the Korean War. He was a licensed electrician and worked for Allen Electric Co. before becoming self-employed before retiring. He is survived by his son David L. Murphy of Elkview, WV; daughter Mary Ann Richardson of Thomasville; 4 grandchildren, Sheri Jenkins of Phenix City, Al; David Shawn Murphy of Pooler, GA; Curtis Blow of Leesburg, Ga; and Steve Richardson Jr. of Thomasville and 9 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his good friend and companion Mrs. Eleanor Hurst of Thomasville. He was also preceded in death by 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
