Dana Colley Mashburn, 66, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Archbold Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Born on August 15, 1958, at Turner AFB Hospital in Albany, Georgia, he was the son of the late George Thomas Mashburn and Ruthie Williams Mashburn. Being a proud Air Force brat, Colley enjoyed the travel and adventures of military life with his family. He graduated from Central High School in 1976 and later attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) and Thomas Technical Institute, where he trained in machine tool technology. He was employed with Textron as a metrologist for a number of years.
Colley was a generous man who loved God, family, friends, and life. He was an avid outdoorsman with a great passion for nature. In the late afternoons, he could often be found sitting in a tree looking for deer and turkey, or with his mom feeding fish off the dock. Colley had a tender heart, a quick wit, the gift of storytelling and could strike up a conversation with anybody. He was adept at playing most sports, especially baseball, loved to sing and fish, and watch NASCAR racing and the Georgia Bulldogs. He always looked forward to joining his ABAC brothers for their annual reunion.
Colley is preceded in death by his father, George Thomas Mashburn; grandparents Mark L. and Russell Pope Mashburn, John David and Eppie Crews Williams; and his beloved dogs, Count and Sabi. He is survived by his mother, Ruthie Williams Mashburn of Thomasville, and sister, Anna Mashburn of Valdosta. He also leaves behind extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly. Colley was blessed with a large family, including many uncles, aunts, and cousins. Their love, encouragement, and strong family ties made an enduring impression on his life.
A celebration of life will be held at Allen & Allen Funeral Home's Celebration of Life Chapel, with Reverend Jimmy Towson officiating, at 3:00 pm on Sunday, May 4, 2025. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
