Daniel Thomas Mitchell

Services for Daniel Thomas "Dan" Mitchell, 60, of Thomasville are at 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Daniel Smoak officiating. Mr. Mitchell died March 10, 2007 at his residence. Born October 21, 1946 in Memphis, Tenn., he was the son the late Winfred O. Mitchell and Ann Yarbrough Mitchell, who survives. He graduated from East High School in Memphis and the University of Mississippi, where he majored in Marketing and Business Administration. He was with Holiday Inns, Inc. in Memphis in the Market Research Department and the Property Tax Department. In 1976, he moved to Phoenix, AZ., to be the Director of Property Taxes for Ramada Inns, Inc. He was President of Property, Assessment and Tax Services, Inc. in Phoenix, until moving to Thomasville where he was the owner and Innkeeper of the Dawson Street Inn along with his wife. While a member at the Valley Presbyterian Church in Scottsdale, he served on the diaconate. He was chief of the nation in YMCA Indian Guides, co-leader in Boy Scouts and coached Little League for his son?s and daughter?s teams. He loved backpacking with friends and family and loved to make people laugh at jokes and tall tales. He was devoted and a loving friend, husband, son, and father, and will be missed by all who knew him. Survivors include, wife, Alice Randy Mitchell; daughter, Margaret Randolph Mitchell; son, Daniel Thomas Mitchell, III; grandchildren, Arden, Elijah, Valerie, and Emily; and sisters, Ann Campbell of Columbus and Betty Anderson of West Palm Beach, Fla. Memorial contributions may be made to the World Mission Conference at the First Presbyterian Church, 225 E. Jackson St., Thomasville, Ga. 31792.
