David Berkshire, born on July 1, 1956, was my daddy. For as far back as I can remember, he was the type of person to always want to help. He was always bringing home strangers because they didn't have a place to stay or food to eat. As careers go, he was many things from a seaman in the navy, to a volunteer firefighter, to a welder, to a truck driver. He has a passion for fishing. He was also a member of the Patriot Guard Riders. And he loved his family more than ANYTHING. As he is no longer with us here in physical form, we will always carry his love with us. He left behind two daughters Mystic Newton and Jennifer Maxwell and his two son-in-law's Danny Newton and Keith Maxwell; six grandchildren Logan, Lindsey and Bentley newton, and Rayanna, Keith Jr., and Adleigh Maxwell; sisters Sheri Brown and Penny Tennent and brother Ken Berkshire. He is preceded in death by his late wife Neva Berkshire and son Richard Berkshire and both of his parents Kenneth Berkshire and Betty Jean Berkshire.
Daddy, may you rest in peace forever. I love you more than words could ever express.
He was a firm, "set in his ways" kind of man. Not perfect, as we all are not. But he was a generous, pay it forward friend, father, papa, brother, uncle, father-in-law, and neighbor. He was always ready to extend a helping hand. His favorite act of bringing joy to Thomasville was playing Santa Claus throughout his years for various companies in the community; most recently, the American Pawn. Being raised on "giving is the greater present than receiving" is something I will always keep with me. Thank you daddy, for always being there for me. Thank you for guiding me and never giving up. You will never know how much I love you. How much I miss you. How much I need you right now. I would do anything to turn back time. Hug my brother for me and please watch over my children and I. Until I see you again, I'll be missing you times 3000. I love you, Daddy.
