Mr. Inman died peacefully in his sleep at his home on Thursday, March 31, 2016, after a year-long battle with cancer. He is survived by his son, Lawson (Courtney) Inman and granddaughter Jane, of Garden City, New York and daughter, Stacey Inman of Beaufort, South Carolina. David was born August 19, 1951 in Thomasville, Georgia, where he grew up, the son of the late Lynne and Benjamin S. Inman, Jr. He is survived by brothers, Benji Inman (Martha) of Miccosukee, Florida, Bill Inman (Carla) of Thomasville, and half brother, Mac Edwards of Nashville, Tennessee. David graduated from Thomasville High School with lifelong friends in the Class of 1970. He graduated from Georgia Southern in 1975 where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. While there he was known as “The Governor” after having served as intern with then governor, President Jimmy Carter. Inman lived in Augusta, Georgia, Fripp Island, South Carolina and Macon, Georgia before returning to his beloved hometown, where he began a sales career with Rumbles’ Office Supply and was loved by a great group of fellow workers and friends. An avid golfer, he will be missed by his golfing buddies at Cairo Country Club. Inman is survived by nieces and nephews, Benjamin Inman IV (Amanda), Meghan Inman Saunders (Danny), Julie Inman Rasmussen (Josh) and William Inman, Jr. (Danielle) as well as three great- nephews and three great- nieces. He is also survived by his good friend and caretaker, Ken Coram and constant companions, dachshunds, Buddy and Lucy. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 1 at Allen and Allen Funeral Home from 4:00-6:00 PM. A private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Georgia State Golf Association Foundation, Scholarship Fund, 121 Village Parkway, Building 3, Marietta, GA 30067, or Hospice of Southwest Georgia 114 Mimosa Dr. #8, Thomasville, Georgia 31792.
