Services for David J. Brown, 87, of Thomasville, will be Monday, May 21, 2012, at 11 AM at Allen & Allen Chapel and interment will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Rev. Lee Waller and Rev. Julian Griner will officiate. Mr. Brown passed away on May 18, 2012 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born August 31, 1924 in Merrillville, Ga, he was the son of the late William David Brown and Lilly Estelle Byrd Brown. Mr. Brown was married to Genette Morris Brown for 63 years, who survives. Mr. Brown was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, gardening, fishing, and watching baseball especially the Atlanta Braves. He was a fireman for 17 years. He also worked at Borderline Plantation for 8 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 31. Other survivors include his sons, Dennis Brown, Bobby Brown and wife Diane of Thomasville; daughter Peggy Duncan and husband Tommy of Moultrie; daughter Lisa Hevey and husband Brinton of Tallahassee; grandchildren Amie, Lee, Blythe, Patrick and wife Mel, A.J., Chris, Kellie and husband Heath, and Bace; brother Lewis Brown of Brooks County; sister Doris Busbee of Albany; and 9 Great-Grandchildren. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by brothers Otis, Oscar, Cliff, Clyde, and Albert and sister Jessie. The family will receive friends and family from 3-5 on Sunday at the funeral home.
