Dean Drummond Farrell, 58 of Cairo passed away October 14, 2013 at his residence. Born August 14, 1955 in Bainbridge, he was the son of the late William Sinclair Farrell, Lt. Col. USAF Ret. and Edna Jeane Bauchspies Farrell of Tallahassee, FL. He was married to Jo Anne Hudson Farrell who survives. Mr. Farrell graduated from Emory University with a degree in Chemistry and Physics, and from Valdosta State with a Master's degree in Education. He was a science teacher and swim coach at Thomasville High School for 31 years and was known by his students as Dean "The Flame" Farrell from his former high diving days. Other survivors include brother, William Sinclair Farrell, Jr. of Tallahassee and sister, Candace Jean Henry of San Angelo, TX; sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, David & Jackie McCurry of Cairo and Pat & Lynda Thompson of Bainbridge and several nieces and nephews. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1201, Albany, GA 31702; Thomasville High School Science Dept. or the Thomasville High School Swim Team, 315 S. Hansell St, Thomasville, GA 31792. The family will receive friends, 4-6 pm on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home.
