Ms. Deborah Ann Kirkland, age 47, died Wednesday at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility in Statesboro. The Statesboro native was raised in Thomasville, Georgia and graduated from Thomas County Central High School in 1986. Deborah returned to Statesboro in 1990 and was a homemaker and a private duty caregiver for the elderly. In 2007, Deborah graduated from Ogeechee Technical College as a Medical Assistant. She immediately began her career with Georgia Southern University Health Services working for Dr. Brian Deloach and Dr. Ophelia Gherman for the past eight years. She received Employee of the Year in 2015. She was of the Baptist Faith.
Deborah was preceded in death by her father, Ed Kirkland; a sister Patty Lynn and a niece Victoria.
Surviving are two daughters, Ashley Ann Hurst and Casey Elizabeth Hurst both of Statesboro; a grandson, Hayden Alexander Tootle of Statesboro; her mother, Thetis Hagan Powers of St. Marks, Fl.; two brothers, Allen Kirkland of Ochlocknee, GA and David Kirkland of Tallahassee, Fl. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:00pm at the Ochlocknee Baptist Church. The body will lie-in-state one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Ochlocknee City Cemetery.
