Delpha Folmer Oglesby
Graveside services for Delpha Folmer Oglesby, 78, of Thomasville, are at 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009 at Laurel Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Frederick A. Buechner will officiate. Mrs. Oglesby died Nov. 15 at her residence. Born, Feb. 14, 1931 in Liberal, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Clemma Hoskinson Folmer. On Oct. 31, 1951, in Liberal, Kansas, she married Jamie W. Oglesby of Elberton, with whom she recently celebrated her 58th wedding anniversary. After graduating from High School in Liberal, Kansas, she attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, Oklahoma. A realtor at First Thomasville Realty for the past 30 years, she had participated in the Junior Service League, the Follies, Secretary of the University of Georgia Extension Center, Secretary of the Thomasville Area Board of Realtors, Secretary of the Southwest Georgia Board of Realtors, Thomas County Citizen's Academy and member of the Thomasville Cultural Center, South Georgia Ballet for the Performing Arts and many other activities involving her grandchildren. Other survivors include her daughter, Cathie Oglesby Campbell; her son, Jamie W. Oglesby, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Mary Kiger Oglesby; 5 grandchildren to whom she gave constant affection and devotion: George Campbell of Greenville, S.C., Catherine Campbell of Washington, D.C., Jessica Oglesby of Savannah, Ga., Olivia Oglesby and Elizabeth Oglesby both of Thomasville. She was preceded in death by a sister, Fern Ola Wilgus. The family will receive friends at the home of Mary and Jamie Oglesby, 7899 Metcalf Road, on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made either to the Thomasville Cultural Center, P.O.
