Services for Dewey Littleton Phelps of Thomasville are at 2:00PM on Wednesday, August 27, 2003 at Fredonia Baptist Church where he was a member. The Rev. Jerry Lancaster and The Rev. Charles Neely will officiate and interment will be at Fredonia Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Kenneth Phelps, Paul Phelps, Bret Williams, Terry Billingsley, Dan Hudson, Scott Solana, Isaac Holt, Joe Thomas and Ed Brooks. Honorary pallbearers are Samuel Phelps, Clifford Phelps, Dean Williams, Timmy Parker and Malory Parker. Mr. Phelps died August 25, 2003 at Hospitality Care Center. Born July 19, 1919 in Thomas Co., GA., he was the son of the late Samuel and Rosa Phelps. On December 24, 1942 in Macon, GA., he married Evelyn Phelps who survives. Mr. Phelps was a faithful christian who consistently used his vocal talent to praise and glorify God. He was a devoted husband, a hero to his children and grandchildren and was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was the owner and operator of Phelps Grocery and subsequently was in the lumber business with his son Larry. He was an Army Veteran. Other survivors include daughter, Gail Lancaster of Thomasville; grandchildren, Abigail Lancaster and Lisa Solana; great grandchildren, Faith Lancaster and Amy Solana; brothers, Clifford Phelps, Samuel Phelps, sisters, Ruth Billingsley, Mozelle Williams all of Thomasville and a number of nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Phelps and a sister, Vernell Hudson. Memorials may be made to Fredonia Baptist Church, 1855 Fredonia Road,Thomasville, GA. 31792 or to the Georgia Chapter Alzheimer's Association, 1512-1 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA., 31707.
