Diane Whitney Waller Wetherbee passed at her home Tuesday, December 15, 2021. She was born March 29, 1940, in Montgomery, Alabama. A memorial service will be held at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Celebration of Life Chapel in Thomasville, Georgia on Monday, December 27 at 2:00 pm. She is preceded in death by her mother Betty Jean Whitney Waller, her father Robert Benjamin Waller. She is survived by her daughter Dawn Waller Wetherbee (Ken) Johnson, her son Daniel James (Josiane) Wetherbee, grandchildren Grayson Harvey, Christian Harvey, Gabriel Castro, Sophia Wetherbee, Bianca Wetherbee, James Wetherbee. She is also survived by her great granddaughter Evelyn-Rose Bravo. Diane always knew that she wanted to be a nurse. Her spirit and kindness touched everyone she encountered. When I picture her, I see elegance, grace, sassiness, and always giving more than taking. As a child, she was a beach baby, growing up in St. Petersburg, Florida, while her father served in the army, during World War II. They moved to Thomasville when she was a teenager. She then went on to obtain her nursing degree, in Americus, Georgia. She then joined the army, and married in San Antonio, Texas, in 1965. She lived in Albany, Georgia, working as a nurse at Phoebe Putney Hospital. Diane created a loving home, raising children, and leading by example to know and love Jesus Christ, love of our country, and to be a productive member of society. She gave back to the community by volunteering through junior league, colonial dames, and school and work charities. She moved back to her beach roots in 1993, living in Panama City beach, Florida. She continued as a nurse at Bay Medical and gave back through turtle rescue and neighborhood politics. She kept active playing bridge, singles clubs, college football, birds, flowers, and of course, the beach. She moved back to Thomasville this year and has enjoyed getting settled in her new home, keeping up with friends, and spending time with her grandkids. She remained active visiting Callaway Gardens Christmas lights this December. She is remembered by her wonderful friends and family and loving memories.
