Rev. Don R. McMillan, a devoted disciple of Christ, dedicated husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather, peacefully departed this earthly life on November 23, 2023, surrounded by his beloved family at home. Born on December 4, 1947, Georgia was his home until 1968, when he ventured to St. Louis, Missouri, to begin his career journey with Sears. It was in St. Louis that he met the love of his life, Donna Cordes, with whom he shared 55 blessed years.
Following a transformative surrender to the Lord, his calling led him to a life of unwavering service. For 31 impactful years, he served as the Minister of Education and Administration at First Baptist Church in Thomasville, Georgia, fostering a legacy of faith and devotion.
Brother Don's fervor for advancing God's kingdom was unparalleled. His life was a testament to his commitment to studying and imparting God's Word, and tirelessly ministering to the community. His God-given gifts of teaching and administration were instrumental in guiding Bible studies, orchestrating impactful community and missions events, and adeptly managing the church's logistics. His indelible mark on the church body, the local community, and generations to come is a testament to his enduring legacy.
Rev. McMillan's enduring legacy lives on through his devoted wife, Donna McMillan, and their cherished children: Kevin (Lesli) McMillan and Christy (Allan) Pierce. He found immense pride and joy as "Pa" to his 10 treasured grandchildren: Emily, Christian, Kingsley, Tristan, Madison, and Fox McMillan, alongside A.J., Abigail, Julia, and Hannah Pierce. He is also survived by his dear sister, Sandra (Dave) Anthony, and beloved nieces and nephews. He now reunites in eternal peace with his parents, Clarence “Mac” McMillan, Ruth Garner Cleveland, and step-father, Phil Cleveland.
The family will graciously receive visitors at Allen and Allen Funeral Home on Saturday, November 25, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
A Celebration of Life service will take place on Sunday, November 26, at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Thomasville, Georgia. The service will be officiated by his son, Kevin McMillan; grandson, A.J. Pierce; and dear friend, Rev. Paul Blough. Following the service, the burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, officiated by his son-in-law, Rev. Allan Pierce.
Pallbearers will be Michael Hanna, Shannon Pilcher, Mike Raybon, Dale Mediate, William Clark, and Stann McLeod.
