Don "David" Simmons passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on June 16, 1936, in Pavo, Georgia, David dedicated much of his life to the land he loved, working as a farmer alongside his father until his father's passing. After a time of farming the land independently, David retired from farming and chose to rent out his property, eventually finding joy in working at a machine shop for a close friend until he fully retired.
A graduate of Coolidge High School, David also attended Georgia Tech for a period of time. David had an insatiable curiosity about the world, with a deep interest in science and nature. He often found enjoyment in reading and sharing his knowledge with others. In his younger years, he enjoyed the camaraderie of hunting and fishing with friends, while in his later years, he developed a profound passion for biblical prophecy, which he eagerly shared with those around him.
David was an unassuming and kind man, preferring the tranquility of nature as his spiritual sanctuary over any particular church. His gentle spirit and compassionate heart touched the lives of many. David expressed his desire for friends and family to contribute to worthwhile charities in lieu of flowers.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Don H. and Beulah V Ingram Simmons, and his nephew, Keegan Simmons. He is survived by his brother, Wade Simmons (Chris) of Townsend, Georgia; his sister, Gail Reed of Coolidge; his sister, Jean Simmons of Coolidge; his niece, Joretta McKarin; and his nephew, Dennis Jones.
In accordance with David's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. Instead, family will hold a private remembrance to honor his life and legacy. David wished his friends and family well, "until we meet again".
