Donald Lee Cox Sr.

Funeral service for Donald Lee Cox Sr. will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Allen & Allen Celebration of Life Chapel with Pastor Ken Burgess officiating. Visitation will be held from 10-11am also on Tuesday in the chapel. Donald Lee Cox Sr., age 72, of Thomasville, Georgia departed this life on July 22, 2022, at his residence. He was born to the late Carl Cox and the late Nannie Cox-Anderson on November 27, 1949, in Harlan County, Kentucky. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Freddie Cox, Carl Cox, Bob Cox, and his step-sister Rosy Lee Carter. He is survived by his loving wife of over 52 years, Barbara Cox of Thomasville; their two children Kelly Grogan (Ricky), and Donald Cox Jr.; six grandchildren Jessica Cox, David Craven, Andrew Craven, Corey Cox, Madisen Cox, and Seth Cox; siblings James Cox (Sharon), Garfield Anderson, Kenneth Anderson, Ann Burkhart, and Brenda Badgero; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing. He spent 53 years working at making carbide tools. He enjoyed his work and never wanted to fully retire. He started working at Johnson Carbide in Saginaw, Michigan in 1969 at the age of 19. His love for making carbide specialty tools led him to move to Georgia in 1982. In 1984, he started working for Southern Carbide Specialist and that is where he stayed until his passing. He was fun loving and kind. His family and friends are left with many wonderful memories. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
