Donald "Double D" Demsher, 80 of Thomasville passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021, surrounded by his family. Don was a graduate of St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. Moving to Thomasville from Pittsburgh in 1968. He was a long-time member of Glen Arven Country Club, where he started the club's first member-guest tournament, chairing the event for the first 12 years. But no legacy means more to Don than the Archbold Classic Golf Tournament, which he was the tournament director for 26 years, since its inception in 1994. The tournament has raised over $6 million in support of the Archbold Scholarship Program, providing scholarships to students pursuing careers in the healthcare field. Don is the son of the late Joseph & Elsie Demsher. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jacki Demsher; son, Daryl Demsher; daughter, Renee Demsher Salter; four grandchildren, Robert Clayton Salter, Carlie Demsher Davis, Cassie Demsher Hong, Derek Demsher and seven great-grandchildren. The family will be receiving guests at Glen Arven Country Club, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, on Wednesday, July 28, 2021. A private family service will be held at a later date.
