Donald G. ("Buddy") Lawhorne Jr.

It is with deepest sadness that the family of Donald Graham Lawhorne, Jr. shares the passing of our beloved father, son, brother, nephew and cousin on Wednesday, January 10 in Roanoke, Indiana. He was affectionately known as Buddy, which was quite fitting because he was always our “Buddy.”
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at Dillon Road Presbyterian Church, where he was a member, at 2:00PM on Saturday, January 20. The Reverend Eric Newman of Albany will officiate and the eulogy will be done by the Brothers of the IBEW.
Buddy was born on October 5, 1970 in Thomasville. He attended Central High School. Buddy was a highly-skilled electrician and was a member of the IBEW Brotherhood and Sisterhood his entire career.
Buddy enjoyed cooking, traveling, golf, fishing, UGA football and the outdoors, but most of all, he enjoyed people.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Susie Dickinson Lawhorne. He has two beautiful daughters, Camryn and Caylee Lawhorne of Hahira, Georgia. Buddy is also survived by his father, Donald G. Lawhorne (“Donnie”) and Mama Gail, and by his sisters, Stephanie Lawhorne and her husband Steve Hinkle of Madison, New York; Lisa Scully and husband Blake; and Kym Heirs-Brinson; and brother Joseph (“JoJo”) Heirs, of Thomasville. Other survivors include aunts Jan Michaels and husband Gene, of Atlanta; Jean Phipps and husband Ken, of Ochlocknee; Jewell Glasure and husband Marvin; and Martha Dickinson Barfield, of Thomasville. Buddy has a large extended family and was especially close to his cousins.

Buddy was a gentle soul who would give anyone the shirt off of his back. He had a loving and generous spirit and cherished by his family, his IBEW Brotherhood and Sisterhood, and his many friends. Buddy was never judgmental and always helped those who were less fortunate. Buddy never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He will always hold a special place in our hearts which no one else can fill. He will be sorely missed.
