Services for Donna Clifton Champion, 58, of Thomasville will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Pineland Baptist Church. Rev. Harold Thomaston will officiate and interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Champion passed away February 3 at her residence. Born March 11, 1957, in Thomasville, she was the daughter of the late James Clifton and Ruth Bennett Clifton. She is survived by her husband Martin “Marty” D. Champion. Donna was a 1975 graduate of Central High School and received her BSN at Thomas University. She was employed at Archbold Hospital as an IMCU nurse and most recently at the oncology center. She was a member of Pineland Baptist Church where she served as Acteens Leader, was children’s choir leader, and played the piano for many years. Her charitable activities included serving as a Brownie leader and working at the Orange County Rescue Mission. Her efforts to bring awareness to the fight against cancer included modeling for the Pink Affair and the Kickin’ Cancer Calendar plus being featured in an Archbold commercial. Her favorite pastimes included reading, spending time with her grandchildren and being at the beach. She was a loving wife, mama, nana and sister. Other survivors include her daughters, Jessica Ann Beck and husband Mack of Meigs, Heather Baggett Brinkley and husband Marcus of Whigham and Brittany Baggett Ansley and husband Chance of Ochlocknee; sixteen grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn Clifton of Thomasville and Melissa Pinder and husband Walt of Jesup and brother, James “Jimmy” Thomas Clifton, Jr and wife Deborah of Pelham and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Kickin’ Cancer of Southwest Georgia, 14004 US Hwy 19 S., suite 112, Thomasville, Ga 31757. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM, Friday at the funeral home.
