Doris Bowen, 78 passed away on March 22, 2024 in Tallahassee. She was born in Cairo on July 29, 1945 to the late Jacob McGuire and Thelma Stills McGuire.
Doris was a member of the First Church of Nazarene of Cairo. She enjoyed gardening in her spare time and loved her pets. She worked for Coats & Clark as a machine operator for over 20 years. Doris was a caregiver to everyone. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Wayne Bowen; her daughters Donna Hurst Hendley (Bruce) of Ochlocknee and Denise Hurst Harrison (Matthew) of Cairo; grandchildren Heather Hendley, Tyler Hendley (Brittany), Chastity Lane Hurst, and Meagan Gibbons (Elijah); Great-grandchildren Flint Hendley, Arliemae Hendley, Griffin Hendley, Gavin Hendley, Jacob Lewis, Braelyn Kirk, Brancher Hurst, Hayden Strickland, Judson Strickland and Blakely Gibbons; sister Dorothy Gay of Americus and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her son Dale Hurst, her brothers Billy McGuire, M.C. McGuire, Albert McGuire, Henry McGuire, Frank McGuire, Charles McGuire and sister Glenda Busby.
A service will be held to celebrate the life of Doris Bowen on Sunday, March 24th at 4 pm at the Allen & Allen Celebration of Life Chapel with Bryan Gainous officiating.
