A celebration of the life of Doris Lavaughn Fulford Collins Beasley, 89, of Thomasville, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Meigs Baptist Church. Pastor Brent Welch and Rev. Dennis Norman will officiate and interment will be in Meigs Sunset Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Kevin Bush, Joey Lanfair, Cecil McCann, Jr., Clifton Brock, Corey Barwick and Tim Hobbs, Jr. Mrs. Beasley went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 18, 2010 at Glen-Mor Nursing Home, surrounded by her two daughters. Born, Oct. 25, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Clayton D. and Bonnie Ruth Holley Fulford. She was formerly married to Roy Benton Collins until he preceded her in death. She later married Leonard B. Beasley, Sr., who also preceded her in death. She was a Winder for Coats and Clarks in Pelham for 37 ½ years. Her hobbies included attending church, fishing, watching the Atlanta Braves and playing with her dog, Pug. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt who will always be loved and missed by her family. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Billy Lanfair of Thomasville; daughter, Dale Bush of Thomasville; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Collins; granddaughter, Sonni Lanfair McCann; three brothers; one sister; and loving step-father, Leo C. Brock. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will be gathering at the home of Elaine and Billy Lanfair.
