Services for Dorothy Griffin, 90, are at 2:00PM on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Meigs Baptist Church, where she was a member. The Rev. Gary Milton will officiate and interment will be in Meigs Sunset Cemetery. Mrs. Griffin passed away peacefully on January 18, 2018 at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman. Born April 4, 1927 in Cairo, GA, she was the daughter of the late Edward Kie and Helen Louise Sasser Shiver. On January 21, 1946 in Thomasville, she married Woodrow Griffin, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Griffin was a seamstress at Warner’s and was a sales associate at Belks. After retirement, Mrs. Griffin worked at Ravenwood Academy. She then devoted her life to caring for her husband, her parents and her family. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and crafting. Survivors include, daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Bub Carter of Woodstock, Georgia, Georga and Layne Richardson of Ochlocknee, Georgia, Gail and Jim Barton of Valdosta, Georgia; grandchildren, Lynda (Carter) and Chris Wallace of Jasper, Georgia, Faith (Carter) and Jimmy Smith of Canton, Georgia, Sam and Jeri Richardson of Monticello, Florida, Jamie Richardson of Coffeyville, Kansas, Ashley (Barton) and Shane Exum of Ray City, Georgia, Jake Barton of El Paso, Texas and Will Barton of Valdosta, Georgia; great grandchildren, Tyler Smith of Charleston, South Carolina, Ivey Smith of Canton, Georgia, James and Joshua Richardson of Monticello, Florida, Aubrey Exum of Ray City, Georgia and Nathan Wallace of Jasper, Georgia; sister, Martha Taylor of Albany, Georgia and numerous nieces and nephews. A brother, Fred Shiver, preceded her in death. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southwest Georgia, 114 Mimosa Dr. #B, Thomasville, GA 31792. The family would like to thank the staff of the Presbyterian Home and Hospice of Southwest Georgia for their care and love of our mother.
