On June 4, 2018, we lost our beloved mother, Dot. She was stubborn in the best way and fought as hard as she could before she took her last breath.
Dot was one of a kind. Born on August 12, 1927 to Audie Glenn and Pearlene Elizabeth Roundtree. She is survived by her brother, Claud Roundtree and sister, Ann Davis Rose. Her other two siblings Clarence Roundtree and Jane Chalk were waiting to greet her in heaven when she arrived.
Raised in Oklahoma, Dot was the original “Mary Tyler Moore”! She was working as the office manager at Hershey Chocolate when she met Chuck Thomas. They fell in love, married in 1948 and moved to Japan where Chuck was stationed in the Air Force. Eventually they were stationed back in the states at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, GA. This is where they made their home and family for the next 30 years.
Soon after moving to Warner Robins, Eddy Thomas came into the world and their dream of having a family was realized. Two years later Donna Thomas joined the Thomas crew and life was complete for the Thomas’s. Dot was a hands-on mom while always looking glamorous. Even vacuuming she was dressed to the nine’s. She worked in the Houston County School System and was loved by all. The Thomas house was where all the kids congregated.
Years later, Dot entered into a new era in her life, moving to Houston to be near her ailing mother and her brother Claud. She joined the Second Baptist Church and magic happened. Dot met, and fell in love with C.W. Maxcy, a nice Texas boy. She inherited another family filled with love to add to her own. In addition to her two grandsons, Chad and Ben, she now had stepsons and daughters and step grandchildren that accepted and loved her as their own.
CW and Dot lived happily in love together for the next 16 years. Their life was active and full, surrounded by both families and their countless friends at the Second Baptist Church. Dot loved the lord and lived in Christ every day of her long life. She was always the most glamorous woman in the room; so beautiful yet didn’t know it.
There will never be anyone like her in the world and this loss will be felt deeply for years to come. How would we describe Dot? Mom, Sister, Daughter, Wife, beautiful, hard headed, stubborn, tireless energy, funny, modest, giving, full of love and considered her greatest accomplishment accepting Jesus as her personal savior.
