Funeral services for Dorothy Louise McEown will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Grace Point Church with Rev. Brent Welch officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be the Cairo High School Class of 1956. Interment will be held at Pine Level Church Cemetery. Born July 3, 1939, she was the daughter of the late William Green Hinson and Dorothy Verna (Tipper) Hinson. She was married to Gordon Charles McEown, who also preceded her in death. Louise worked as a book keeper at Murphy Drug Store. Louise was a strong Christian and loved telling people about Jesus. She also loved her family, gardening, and her two dogs, Sabrina and Hannah. She is survived by her children, Debbie McEown of Valdosta and Richard McEown of Valdosta; grandchildren Joshua McEown of Cairo, Crystal McEown of Cairo, Steven McEown (Sara Kate) of North Carolina, and Richard McEown Jr. of New Jersey; and sisters Linda Jo Hinson Cox of Thomasville, and Mary Ann Hinson Fletcher (David) of Boston. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and her special great-niece Reba Cox. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Don McEown, grandson Matthew Donald White, and brother Robert Edward Hinson. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5:00-7:00PM at the funeral home.
