Graveside services for Dorothy Dot Ann Gibson Kelly, 81, of Thomasville will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Laurel Hill Cemetery on Georgia Street. The Rev. Joe Easterling will officiate. Dot passed away February 3, 2011 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born November 15, 1929 in Thomasville, she was the daughter of the late Braxton C. and Sarah F. Gibson. She was married to William C. Bill Kelly, who preceded her in death. She attended Eastside School and graduated from Thomasville High School in 1947 where she was a majorette with the marching band. During World War II, she was a volunteer with the Women's Air Corp. Dot was a mother and homemaker most of her adult life. She began her teaching career at Cheerhaven School for special needs children in Dalton, Ga, earned a bachelor's degree from Valdosta University and a master's degree from the University of Georgia. She was a math teacher at Thomasville High School until her retirement in 1995, was a Star Teacher in 1987 and was an adjunct math instructor for Thomas University. She was a member of Christ Community Church and a volunteer at the Thomas Co. Food Bank. Survivors include children, Ann Kelly of Woodstock, Burt Kelly and wife Phillis of Ft. Smith, AR, Dale Kelly of Thomasville and Laine Reichert and husband Kirby of Thomasville; grandchildren, Jake Hopkins and wife Brooke of Woodstock, Sara Hopkins Ippolito and husband Brandon of Roswell Ga, Christiane Kelly Herndon and husband Jeremy of Nashville, TN, Matthew Kelly and wife Alison of Little Rock, AR, Cari Kelly McDonnell and husband Jody of Austin, TX, Henry Pepin, IV of Athens, GA Katy Reichert of Decatur and Annie Reichert of Thomasville; 7 great grandchildren; brother, Wilburn E. Gibson and wife Elsie of Thomasville and sister, Sarah Dell Gibson Jackson and husband Jack of Moultrie. She was preceded in death by brothers, B.C. Gibson, Jr., Burt Gibson and Frank Gibson.
