A celebration of life for Dorothy Dotty Leedy, 82, of Thomasville will be held at 2:00 pm, January 11 at the First United Methodist Church of Thomasville. Dotty passed away January 7, 2011 in her home after a long bout with cancer. She was born on July 1, 1928 in Ashland, KY to the late Mima and W.B. Fosson. She was a graduate of Ashland High and went on to do clerical work for W.B. Fosson & Sons.
On July 25, 1949 she married Bryan Leedy, also of Ashland, Ky. From Ashland they moved to Jackson, TN and then to Lexington, KY before making Thomasville their final home in 1967. Dotty was preceded in death by husband Bryan Leedy of Thomasville, mother Mima Fosson, father W.B. Fosson and brothers Richard Fosson and Jack Fosson all of Ashland, Kentucky.Dotty volunteered at Archbold Memorial Hospital for many years as well as at Brookwood School where she was a paraprofessional. She was an active member of First Methodist Church and for a short time volunteered her secretarial skills. She was also a charter docent for Pebble Hill Plantation. Dotty loved to knit baby caps for the newborns at Archbold Hospital and was always willing to do anything she could to help others. She never met a stranger and was always the first to make everyone feel welcome. She touched the lives of so many people in Thomasville. She will be forever remembered for her kindness, grace and generosity. She reflected her Christianity in everything she did and always put others before herself. She is survived by her sister, Joann Fosson Williams of Hilton Head, SC; daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Kenneth Curfman and grandson, Chase Curfman, all of Loveland, CO, and daughter, Diane Leedy McKenzie of Tallahassee, FL. As in life, Dotty would like her passing to also help others. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Breast Cancer Foundation or Hospice of Southwest Georgia, 818 Gordon Ave, Thomasville, GA 31792.
