Douglas Edward Francis was born April 28, 1960 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Truman Douglas Francis and Norma Jean Beaman Francis. When he was one year old the family moved to Winfield, Kansas. The family moved to Bridgewater, Virginia in 1973. Douglas graduated from Turner Ashby High School in Dayton, Virginia in 1978. After graduation, he moved again with his family to Thomasville, Georgia.
Doug studied Architecture and Building Science several years at Auburn University. After leaving Auburn he worked as a general contractor repairing and remodeling homes and churches in Thomasville and the surrounding area. He always loved restoring and saving old homes.
He was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Thomasville.
