Dr. Resora Acoba, age 85, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on December 26, 2025, in Moultrie, Georgia. Born in the Philippines on February 9, 1940, she carried with her a deep love for her homeland, a fierce dedication to education, and a lifelong calling to care for others. Her journey led her across the world and eventually to Thomasville, where she built a remarkable career and a beautiful life rooted in service, compassion, and faith.

A proud physician, Dr. Acoba served for many years at Southwestern State Hospital, where she cared for patients with unwavering wisdom and dignity. Her colleagues knew her as a steady, thoughtful presence; her patients knew her as a healer who saw the person before the illness. Medicine was her profession, but the ministry of Jesus was her heart.

Dr. Acoba’s faith in Jesus was the foundation of her life. Over the years, she worshiped in many churches throughout Thomasville, always finding fellowship and community wherever she went. Her Bible was well‑worn, her prayers were constant, and her trust in God never wavered.

Outside of her work and ministry, she found joy in the simple, beautiful things of life. She was a passionate gardener, tending to her plants with the same care she offered to people—compassionately and with a gentle touch. Her love of nature was matched by her adventurous spirit. She cherished traveling to many places and creating unforgettable memories. Above all, her greatest joy was in the communion of family and friends.

In her later years, Dr. Acoba resided in assisted living, where she continued to bless those around her with her quiet strength, warm smile, and gracious spirit. Even as her health declined, her faith remained steadfast, and she faced each day with courage and peace.

She is preceded in death by mother, Pastora Pascua Acoba, father, Andres Acoba, and brother, Edwin Pascua Acoba.

She is survived by loving daughters Grace (Robert) Blanton, Nellie Untalan, and Joanne Untalan; sister-in-law Marie Lou Acoba, nieces Mitet Acoba and Lorelei Acoba David, and nephew Raymond Edwin(Tanya and children, Tyrone & Tiffany) Acoba.

A memorial gathering will be held at Allen and Allen Funeral Home on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friends, family, and loved ones are invited to gather, remember, and honor a life lived with purpose, humility, and deep devotion.

Her legacy lives on in every life she touched, every patient she cared for, every prayer she prayed, and every seed she planted. She will be deeply missed, but we rejoice knowing she is now at rest in the arms of Jesus.“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
