Dr. Donald Julius McKenzie
Services for Dr. Donald Julius McKenzie, 74, of Thomasville, are at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 30, 2009 at All Saints Episcopal Church. The Reverends Frederick Buechner and William McQueen will officiate and interment is in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Dr. McKenzie died Jan. 28 at his residence. Born Dec. 1, 1934 in Savannah, he was the son of the late Malcolm T. McKenzie and Mary P. Pirog McKenzie. He was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Blanford Bass McKenzie, the mother of his four daughters. Dr. McKenzie was a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Urological Association and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. Dr. McKenzie was a former member of the Thomasville Exchange Club. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Caren McKenzie & Powell Jones, Andrea McKenzie & Charles E. Hancock both of Thomasville, Catherine McKenzie & James Cajka of Durham, NC, Donna McKenzie & Luten Nunnally of Canton; grandchildren, Christopher Jones, Mallory Jones, Madison Jones, Marshall Jones, Lauren Hancock, Catie Hancock, Margaret Hancock, Claire Cajka, Carson Cajka, Parker Nunnally and Connor Nunnally; wife, Martha V. McKenzie of Hiawassee. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Blanford McKenzie Nursing Scholarship fund at Thomas University, 1501 Millpond Rd, Thomasville, Ga. 31792 or to Hospice of Southwest Georgia, 818 Gordon Ave., Thomasville, Ga. 31792.
