Julian Blackburn Neel

Graveside services for Dr. Julian Blackburn Neel, M.D., 92, of Thomasville will be held 2 pm, Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Rev. Bob Dixon and Rev. Ronnie Wills will officiate. Dr. Neel passed away April 21, 2012 at his residence. Born in Thomasville, he was the son of the late George R. and Jennie Blackburn Neel. On November 20, 1945 he married Phoebe Brown Neel who survives. He was preceded in death by son, Jeffrey Brown Neel. Dr. Neel was a veteran of the United States Navy assigned to Fleet Marine Force Pacific during World War II. He was a founding member and past president of the Georgia Surgical Society. He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Thomasville. Other survivors include son, Frederick H. Neel and wife Electra of Palm Harbor, Fl; grandsons, Jeff Neel and Freddy Neel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Thomasville First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 975, Thomasville, Ga 31799 or charity of your choice.
