Services for Dudley Forrest Dixon, 80 of Thomasville will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Bishop Benjamin Smith and Elder Randy Rosier will officiate and interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Dixon passed away May 25, 2014 at Archbold Hospital. Born December 2, 1933 in Quitman, he was the son of the late Joseph Forrest Dixon and Mary Belle Prescott Dixon. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Ann Dekle Dixon. Mr. Dixon was a veteran of United States Air Force. While in the Air Force he was a Goodwill Ambassador to Amsterdam. He was an air traffic controller for 22 years before his retirement in 1975. He graduated from Thomasville High School in 1952 as a National Honor Society Graduate and as a distinguished honor student at ABAC, he received an associate’s degree in agriculture 1975. In high school Mr. Dixon was a member of the Thesbian Society and he was a member of the US Army Reserve. He was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1st Counselor Priesthood and loved gardening, fishing and his family. Other survivors include his children, Christy Dixon Glass and husband Bobby of Thomasville, Dudley Andrew Dixon of Coolidge and Glen Gray Dixon and wife Lori of Coolidge; grandchildren, J. Ross & Britney Glass, Karl Joseph & Mallory Glass, Tyler Jeffery Glass, Amy Ann Dixon, Dudley Austin Dixon, Lyssa Lea Dixon and Madison Michelle Dixon; great-grandchildren, John Reese Glass, Konner Joseph Glass and Anna Elise Glass; sister, Vivian Dixon Melton and husband Tim and brother, Cleve Dixon and wife Judy and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughter, Naomi Lee Dixon and brothers, Joseph Donald Dixon and Dane Prescott Dixon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled Veterans, Gift Processing, P. O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
