Services for E. W. Lucas of Thomasville are at 11:00AM on Friday, July 30, 2004 at Thomasville Primitive Baptist Church. The Rev. Terry Barnard will officiate and interment will be in Thomasville Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Robert Taylor, Clifton Brown, Cary Pendergast, Bill Piland, James Mirick and William Milam. Honorary Pallbearers are Ellis Fletcher, Howard Delaney, Donnie Price, Larry Price, Ray Thompson and Lewis Haralson. Mr. Lucas died July 27, 2004 at Camellia Gardens of Life Care. Born May 21, 1937 in Thomas Co., GA., he was the son of the late William Henry and Mary Jane Gainous Lucas. On July 29, 1959 in Thomasville he married Evelyn Key Lucas who survives. He was a retired shipping foreman for Georgia Crate. Mr. Lucas was a member of Thomasville Primitive Baptist Church where he was a deacon and song leader. Other survivors include daughter, Tracy McGrotha, daughter and son-in-law, Pam and David Asbell, daughters, Diane Lucas all of Thomasville, Beth Lucas of Oviedo, FL, daughter and son-in-law, Krista and Stephen Anderson of Sultan, Washington; grandchildren, Jessica McGrotha, Whitney McGrotha, Tyler McGrotha, Lucas Asbell; sister, Dorothy Carter of Frost Proof, FL and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Lucas, sisters, Gladys Price, Beatrice Atkinson and Alice Pitts. The family will receive friends from 7-9PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
