Born July 7, 1929 to Edward Everett Elam Jr. and Annie Laurie Ashby in Nashville, TN, he attended Isaac Litton High School and Tennessee Tech University, where he received his BS in Industrial Management. He met Lois on October 24, 1950 and married on July 28, 1953. During the Korean War, Ed served in the U.S. Army. Ed loved helping others and creating organizations, a combination he used throughout his life. Living in Willoughby OH, he worked at TRW. Moving to Thomasville, he started up a very successful TRW plant. In Marblehead, MA, he began working at Walbar and started up another successful plant in Greenwood, SC. After retiring from Walbar Inc., he moved back to Thomasville to be of service to Vashti, Bishop Hall and Hands on Thomas County. Ed saw people in need of medication and helped start the Lawson Neel Medbank. To him, life was always a possibility. It was never a problem. Consequently, he saw possibly everywhere. He was a Rotarian and a Shriner. He was a faithful member of Thomasville First United Methodist Church and the Lawson Neel Sunday School Class. His son David Bradshaw Elam of Estill Springs, TN survives him. At Ed’s request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Vashti or to the Lawson Neel Medbank.
