Edward James Harrell, 89, of Thomasville, GA passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Archbold Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Harrell was born March 1, 1928 in Brooks County, Georgia to the late James Carey Harrell and Lydia Camilla Harrell. He graduated from Coolidge High School and briefly played semi-pro baseball in the old Varnedoe Stadium following graduation. He is veteran of the US Army attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class as a tank commander during the Korean War. For the majority of his career, Mr. Harrell was a drywall contractor helping build many of the homes in Thomasville and the surrounding area. He also operated a gas station with his brother in Coolidge, GA for over 30 years. In his spare time, he was an avid hunter, fishermen and Atlanta Braves fan. Preceding him in death are his parents, brother Lester Harrell, and son Glenn Harrell. Survivors include his wife of 62 years Edith Seabolt Harrell, son, Alan Harrell of Suwanee, GA, son and daughter-in-law Doug and Sherry Harrell of Thomasville, and grandchildren Danielle Harrell of Atlanta, McKenzie Harrell of Tallahassee and Eli Harrell of Thomasville. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00PM on Tuesday, August 15 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home with funeral services Wednesday morning, August 16, 11:00AM at the funeral home chapel.
