Edward "Kermit" Lee

Edward Kermit Lee, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on September 17, 1943, in De Soto City, FL, Kermit was a dedicated family man and a loyal member of his community in Thomasville, Georgia, where he resided. He was the son of the late James and Margaret Kirkland Lee. Kermit married the love of his life, Mary Spivey Lee, in 1968 and spent 51 years of marriage together before her passing in 2019.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Kermit dedicated 37 years of his life to the railroad industry as a conductor for CSX Railroad. He was known not only for his hard work but also for the countless individuals he trained throughout his career, instilling in them the values of diligence and dedication.

Kermit was a devout member of Gatlin Creek Baptist Church and served as a deacon, demonstrating his unwavering faith and commitment to the Lord. He cherished his daily devotion, spending time in the Scriptures, and his love for God was reflected in the way he lived his life.

Family was at the heart of Kermit's world. He adored his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always ensuring they felt his love and support. His passion for life included a deep appreciation for sports, particularly his beloved Atlanta Braves and college football, which he loved to watch.

Survivors include his children Dana Lee Rollins (Joey) of Metcalfe and Edward Kevin Lee (Kitty) of Thomasville; grandchildren Brooke Rollins McDonald (Justin), Joseph Andrew Rollins (Ashley), Edward Kristofer Lee, Danielle Lee Carter (Kaleb), and Tyler Kevin Lee; great-grandchildren Rylan Groover, Bowen McDonald, Cameron McDonald, Hanson Rollins, Jaxon Rollins, Reid Rollins, Emory Kate Lee, and Banks Carter.

Kermit is preceded in death by his wife, parents, and siblings, Marilyn McGuyrt and James Quinton Lee.

A service will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 2 pm at Gatlin Creek Baptist Church, with pastor Don Prevatt officiating. The family will receive friends from 1- 2 p.m. prior to the service. Kermit will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens next to his wife Mary.

Kermit will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his unwavering spirit, kind heart, and the indelible mark he left on the lives he touched.
