Edward Burnett Marshall, age 77, passed away quietly at home in Boston, Georgia, on September 7, 2026.
Born in Waynesville, North Carolina on October 13, 1948, Edward was the beloved son of the late Albert Edward and Mabel Jane Marshall. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1966 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1993. Over the course of his career, Edward shared his knowledge and passion for learning through various roles, including teaching at Thomas Tech, before dedicating many years of public service to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), from which he ultimately retired.
A lifelong Democrat with a keen interest in politics, Edward was equally at home outdoors, where he spent many content hours working outside. He was also a proud member of Boston Baptist Church. Above all else, Edward was devoted to his family. He shared 44 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Barbara (Brown) Marshall.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; his children, Amanda Lavery and Jonathan Marshall; his granddaughter, Brittany Warren; his great-granddaughters, Bryn and Maeve; and his brother, Ross Marshall. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mabel.
A memorial service will be held on September 10, 2026, at 11 am at Boston Baptist Church in Boston, GA with Tim Phillips officiating the service.
