Edward W Gay

Services for Edward W. Gay, Sr., 83 of Thomasville are 11 am, Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Gatlin Creek Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Don Prevatt will officiate and interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Gay died March 23, 2009 at Glenn Mor Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. Born May 9, 1925 in Haines City Fl, he was the son of the late David Gay & Stella Edeker Gay. He was married to Evelyn Swain Gay for 54 years, who survives. Mr. Gay was a WWII veteran serving in the military police company from June 1943 to May 1949. His service included battles of France & Rineland in Germany and the invasion of Normandy. He was wounded in action on November 26, 1944. He received numerous medals including the purple heart, Evac Hospital, victory medal WWII, good conduct and EAMC theatre Sr medal. He worked as a marine mechanic before his retirement. Other survivors include sons, Michael Gay and wife Roberta of Lilburn, Ga, Eddie "Lucky" Gay and wife Debra of Tallahassee, brothers, Chester Gay and wife Yolanda of Sanford NC, Winston Gay and wife Roselyn of Katie TX, Wendell DeGay and wife Jeannine of Newport News VA, Cecil Gay of Little Rock AK, sisters, Edna Braden and husband Jim of Center TX, Edith Evanikoff and husband Bill of Dixon CA, Nadine Burchfield of St. Cloud FL, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and very close dear friends, Jeanne Giddens, Sharon Giddens and Tharon Giddens, Jr. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Gay Davis; sisters, Emma Lorette, Madeline Gay, Sara Brunkoff, brother, grady Gay and best friend Tharon Giddens Sr. donations may be made to the American Heart Association, c/o Vicki Lutes, P.O.
